First, let’s talk about the origins of Coral Springs. The land that now makes up the city was originally purchased by Henry Lyons, a Miami architect, in the 1940s. He envisioned a planned community that would be both beautiful and functional. Lyons then partnered with a group of investors to make his dream a reality.
The first step in creating Coral Springs was to build a canal system that would help with flood control and irrigation. The canal eventually grew to be over 100 miles long and is still in use to this day.

Next, Lyons and his team began developing the city’s infrastructure. They built roads, installed utilities, and constructed homes. The first homes in Coral Springs were built in the early 1960s by a variety of builders contracted by Coral Ridge Properties. The city was officially incorporated in 1963, the same year it was named, Coral Springs.
In the 1980s, Coral Springs was experiencing a population boom. In merely a ten year period, the city had more than quadrupled from an estimated 20,000 residents to over 80,000. The growth was a result in large part to the city’s excellent schools and low crime rate.

Today, Coral Springs continues to thrive. It is home to slightly over 130,000 Florida lovers and has been ranked as one of the safest cities in the United States. The city is also known for its vibrant arts scene, with events like the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts every March, drawing visitors from all over.
Coral Springs is also home to the Coral Springs Museum of Art, which features a collection of contemporary art and hosts exhibitions and educational programs.
